News: Google docs default view

06/24/2010

I've been using Google Docs more and more for things lately.  It definitely has issues, but we used it last week for a group exercise where 5 of us were editing the same Word Document (well Google Doc, but I still think of it as a Word Document).   We also use it for a few of our web design projects to track things like contracts, processes, billing notes, whatever.

My problem is when I first log into Google Docs I get a list of about 100 items that are sorted in a really random way.  A few weeks ago I discovered I can "Star" the documents I love (red circle in screenshot), but it doesn't stand out enough.

Today I discovered that I can view ONLY the starred items (green circle), and (thanks to Gil over in the Google Docs Forum) that if I go to that screen and wait about 5 minutes that will be my my new Google Docs default view (is it called a landing page?) when I log in.
