How To Auto Retweet Using Yahoo Pipes
01/19/2010
I recently decided that I wanted to retweet my roller derby league's tweets on my own Twitter feed. This is great for cross promotion and search engine optimization (SEO). Twitter doesn't currently allow you automatically retweet. So, here is how I worked around that:
Create a Yahoo Pipe
- Find your Twitter's RSS URL (on your Twitter page)
- Open (or create) a Yahoo account
- Go to http://pipes.yahoo.com
- Drag the 'Fetch Feed' Module (on the right) the Canvas
- Type in your Twitter RSS URL
- Connect it to the pipe output
- Name your new pipe (click on the file tab at the top of the page)
- Save it
- Click on 'Run Pipe'
- Grab the URL of your Pipes RSS
NOTE: Go to 'Properties' and 'Publish' your feed on Yahoo Pipes (search engines will also index it)
Setup Your RSS to TwitterFeed
- Now open (or create) an account at http://www.twitterfeed.com
- Click 'Create new feed' and fill in a Feed name and your Pipes RSS URL
- Go to step 2 (Authenticate the Twitter Account that you want to post TO)
- Go to step 3 (Done)
RESULT: Now - every hour, TwitterFeed will push the Yahoo Pipes/Original Twitter RSS to Your Twitter feed
To see this in action:
Go to my twitter feed http://twitter.com/kinderbrunnen. Any tweet that's prefixed with 'PVRD:' is coming from Pioneer Valley Roller Derby's twitter feed: http://twitter.com/pvrd
Enjoy!
