Across the nation the numbers of people facing "food insecurity" -
those without an assured ability to acquire food - are growing.
With 25% percent of U.S. workers making $8 an hour or less, many
families are living from week to week, just on the edge of
emergency.
Partnered with America's Second Harvest, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts is helping people get the food they need to survive.
The Food Bank is a multi-agency program that includes soup kitchens,
food pantries, homeless shelters, childcare centers, and elder programs
throughout Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties.
Each year they distribute more than 6 million pounds of food to these
agencies to help feed people in need.
Gravity Switch recently made a $100 donation to The Food Bank of
Western Massachusetts. For every $1 donated, The Food Bank is able to
distribute $9 of wholesome food to a local soup kitchen or food pantry.
