News: The Gravity Switch Family Is Growing

09/08/2006

In an effort to reconnect with some of our long-lost friends we're sending an update on what's new at Gravity Switch:

Welcome Jack Carrington

We had a baby!  Well, let's be honest; Theresa (one of our senior Project Managers) had a baby.  Theresa and husband Dave already share their home with a daughter (Gillian) and these three are simply giddy with the arrival of baby Jack.  The rest of the office is pretty excited too; we placed bets on when Jack would arrive.  The winner will be treated to a free lunch.  Check out some pictures here

New Hires

Over the past few months we've put ourselves through a rigorous interviewing process and are happy to announce that we'll be adding two new members to our team:

Joe Pero comes to us from a little computer company you *may* have heard of called Compaq.  A graduate of UMass Amherst and a resident of Northampton with over 10 years of industry experience, we're sure he'll feel right at home with us!

Some of you may have already met Bob Stevens as he has been working with us on a part time-basis since the start of the year.  After some serious conversation Bob has agreed to join us full time.

New Projects

Life's not *all* fun and games here.  It may sound like we're just hanging around the office having snacks and shooting pool, but we've actually been very productive!  In the spirit of "Out with the old, in with the new" we've helped a number of people redesign or update their websites.

  • We went live with a redesigned Austen Riggs website.  Shortly thereafter the site won a bronze Omni award!  You can read all about it here
  • Southern Connecticut State University needed a fresh face to present to prospective students - a face that showcased how much SCSU has grown in the past 10 years.  We were able to give them that new face.  To read up on the details of this project click here
  • Our new friends at The CAIA Association needed a site as classy as themselves - we were happy to assist them.  We went live with their new site in August.  To learn more about the CAIA Association visit their website: http://www.caia.org
  • Just in time for the Hallowe'en season we went live with the O'Lantern Longshadow and McCobb (OLM) website.  Mixing 'whimsy" with a touch of macabre, this custom eCommerce site features vintage Halloween merchandise.  To start your Hallowe'en shopping visit their website: http://www.olantern.com
  • We've updated and/or redesigned many other websites including: WMEDC, UMass Amherst Facilities, Joining Technologies, Farmland Information Center, NESCSO, National Coalition of Girls Schools, Proteus Fund, Jewelry of Hope, Aqua Arts, and more.
  • In our spare time we gave ourselves at Gravity Switch a bit of an update.  It was our version of spring-cleaning.  Check it out at the same bat time & same bat channel:

Donation

Lastly, we're proud to be able to give back to our community and each year we strive to donate as much as we can.  We've all heard it said that it takes a whole village to raise a child; in honor of that idea Gravity Switch happily donated $1,000 to the Hampshire Childcare Center this past July.
