Qualified candidates will:
- Have a minimum of 3+ years experience as a project manager in the Software, Internet, Advertising, Marketing, Consulting, or Business Planning fields.
- Be able to manage highly technical projects with a team of professional designers, programmers, and quality assurance engineers (testers).
- Be outgoing and likeable. Someone who can laugh easily, but who also has high standards and is serious about getting the job done right.
- Have the ability to present technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Have the ability to understand our clients' underlying business goals, and have a genuine care for the success of their organization.
- Have experience writing proposals and budgeting projects.
- Be a skilled communicator and negotiator - able to resolve conflicts or misunderstandings in order to fortify relationships.
- Be able to show sound judgment in the face of multiple, sometimes conflicting, priorities.
- Have relevant skills like: design experience, usability expertise, business experience, programming knowledge, or something else.
- Have a passion for the web.
Great to have, but not required:
- Experience in one or more of the following markets: Higher Education, Manufacturing, Government, Service, or Non-Profit.
- A deep understanding of the Internet as a business tool, and how it impacts client business goals.
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle, particularly as it relates to web/interactive/database applications.
- Experience with software development concepts such as: Quality Assurance, Usability Testing, Documentation, and Accessibility.
Responsibilities of a PM:
Our Project Managers manage an average of 2 - 4 simultaneous projects at varying stages of development, and of varying budgets; as well as multiple "maintenance" projects. This includes seeing the project through all phases of planning, design, and production through launch and beyond. Also includes: Creating budgets and proposals, allocating internal and external resources, creating and managing schedules, preparing specifications, working on budgets and estimates, conducting regular check-ins, overseeing quality control, managing delivery, managing scope changes, and addressing any issues that arise during the course of a project. The job of a PM is to:
- Keep clients happy
- Keep the team happy
- Manage budgets
- Approach projects in a procedural but flexible way
