In the beginning...
...there were touchscreen kiosks.
Honda worked with Gravity Switch in 1999 to develop an interactive installation that would introduce the Odyssey minivan to North America by allowing buyers to explore colors, options, and features, printing out a spec sheet for "their" Odyssey on the spot.

Although this was one of our larger "application" projects, it was not our only one; we've been designing for kiosks, cd-rom, and web for 14 years now.
Then there was the iPad...
...and it was good.
With the advent of the iPad, the touchscreen market has been rejuvenated. The cost to have an internet enabled touch-screen kiosk is now a very accessible $900, so as an organization you can cost-effectively put a dozen throughout your gallery/building/campus.
Gravity Switch's first project on the iPad is a custom application for East-Coast Landscape artist Marlene Rye. Marlene's last solo show at the Gross Mccleaf Gallery in Philadelphia sold out, and her work is being displayed by Hollywood movie makers in an upcoming feature film (we'll let you know which once it comes out!).

This year Marlene created a stop motion animation that allows collectors to see how various layers are built up on a canvas as she paints. She's been showing this to fans on her Facebook page, and wanted a way to make this approachable to gallery visitors for her opening on April 3rd, 2010.
We created the iPad app above, which lets collectors and visitors browse (and zoom in on) samples of her work, as well as watch the stop motion movie of "the making of."
